Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Purple People is a digital marketing agency based in Surry Hills, Sydney. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you visit purplepeople.com.au, take our Digital Growth Snapshot, book a call, or work with us.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. By using our website or services, you agree to us handling your information as described here.

What personal information we collect

We only collect information we need to respond to you, deliver our services and run our business. This may include:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, mobile number, company name and job title.
  • Business information: your website address, and the answers you give in our Digital Growth Snapshot about your marketing, website, visibility, content and lead generation.
  • Booking details: the time, date and notes you provide when you book a call with us.
  • Client information: billing details, contracts, project communications and any access you give us to your marketing platforms (such as ad accounts, analytics or your website).
  • Website usage information: your IP address, device and browser type, pages you visit, how you move around a page, and how you arrived at our site.

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, religious or political information). Please don't include it in any form or message you send us.

You can contact us without giving your name, but we won't be able to provide an assessment, book a call or work with you unless we can identify you.

How we collect it

Most information comes directly from you, when you:

  • complete the Digital Growth Snapshot or a contact form on our website
  • book a call through our Calendly booking page
  • email, phone or message us, including on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook
  • respond to one of our ads, including Meta or LinkedIn lead forms
  • become a client and share information with us during a project.

We also collect information automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website (see Cookies, analytics and advertising below).

Sometimes we collect business contact information from publicly available sources, such as LinkedIn profiles, company websites and job ads, to contact businesses we think we can help. If we contact you this way, you can ask us to stop at any time.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • prepare and send your Digital Growth Snapshot results and recommendations
  • respond to enquiries and schedule calls
  • prepare proposals, deliver services and manage our client relationships
  • send invoices and manage payments
  • send you marketing content you've asked for, or that relates to your enquiry (you can opt out at any time)
  • measure and improve our website, content and advertising
  • show our ads to people likely to be interested, and to people who have already visited our site
  • prevent spam and protect our website
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We won't use your information for an unrelated purpose unless you'd reasonably expect it, you've agreed, or the law allows it.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar tools to understand how people use it and to measure and target our advertising. These tools may collect your IP address, device details, pages viewed, clicks and scrolling.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended. You can also opt out of Google Analytics, adjust your Meta ad preferences, and learn how Microsoft uses data from Clarity.

Automated scoring

The Digital Growth Snapshot uses software to score your answers across five areas (market clarity, website performance, visibility, trust and content, and lead generation) and generate your personalised results. We also use automated lead scoring in our CRM to help us prioritise enquiries.

These tools use the contact and business information you give us. They help us decide how to follow up, but they don't make decisions that significantly affect your rights. A person on our team reviews enquiries before we decide whether to work together.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with people and services that help us run our business, including:

  • our team members and trusted contractors who work on your enquiry or project
  • our CRM (HubSpot), email marketing platform (Brevo) and booking platform (Calendly)
  • our website host (Webflow) and the analytics and advertising providers listed above
  • our accounting and invoicing software (QuickBooks)
  • cloud storage and productivity tools (such as Google Workspace)
  • professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyer
  • government bodies or others where the law requires it.

We may also upload encrypted (hashed) contact lists to Meta and LinkedIn so we can show relevant ads to existing contacts, or exclude them. We ask these providers to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Overseas storage

Many of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, mainly in the United States and the European Union, and some may store data in other countries where they operate. We choose established providers with strong security practices. By giving us your information, you acknowledge it may be stored or processed overseas.

Marketing emails and opting out

If you complete the Digital Growth Snapshot, download a resource or enquire with us, we may send you emails with your results, follow-up advice and information about our services.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop by emailing hello@purplepeople.com.au. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), and we'll still contact you about any active project or account.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This includes password-protected systems, two-factor authentication where available, limited access for our team, and secure, reputable software providers.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires (for example, financial records for seven years). When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Accessing, correcting or complaining

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@purplepeople.com.au. We'll respond within 30 days. If we can't give you access, we'll explain why.

If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, please email us first with the details. We'll investigate and reply within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992.
